It usually depends on the lender. Sometimes it could take 3 months, sometimes it could take up to 2 years I have seen. Really depends on the lender.
Another option is you can show the bank you are making steps to take care of the problem, by selling your home under normal, short-sale or HAP conditions. Just don't let them come a take the home, work on keeping it or selling it and in the long run, you will recover. Another suggestion is to get with the attorney that helped you close on the home and seek their advise on what you can and can't do. Good luck.
There is Really not a Set Time Frame, It can Vary Depending on Each Lender's Process And The Circumstances With The Borrower. I know some Homes That have taken a Year to go to Foreclosure, But 6 Months is a Good Estimate.
Usually the states make the decisions on foreclosures. Usually once you are behind 2 months, you will start getting notices. Depending on the bank, they can start the foreclosure process and you will have to vacate the property within 6 months. Sorry to hear you are having problems.
